OUR PERSONALITY

Churches are kind of like people in that they have “personalities” that make them unique and different from one another.  God is huge, otherwise known as glorious, with many attributes.  It is hard for any single person or church to emulate Him fully. Most churches get really good at one or maybe even two of His glorious aspects. The result is that you may find different things emphasized at different churches. These things often determine the personality of the church and indicate a possible "fit" for any given person.  Below is a verbal snapshot (yes, we like dogs too!) of our personality:

BLING IS NOT OUR THING ~ We are really down to earth, we are not particularly showy.  But, if you are, we'll love you anyhow; because, we will get to know your heart—that is the thing we value and seek.

WALK THE TALK ~ We are more experiential than academic in our approach.  Experiencing God’s love and walking in what He’s teaching us is more valuable to us than stockpiling knowledge about God. This does not mean that we don't have our people who love to study the word in detail. However, New Hope is missional in its focus.

REAL PEOPLE, REAL INTIMACY ~ Relationships with others who are following Christ is the medium in which most spiritual growth happens. Since worship services alone are limited in how much relationship can develop, we encourage people to be in small groups and to serve together.

BIBLICISTS, NOT PUBLICISTS ~ We take the Bible seriously and “mine it” for learning Who God is and how He wants us to live. You don't need to publicize these results, they show!

LISTENING TO GOD'S VOICE ~ And no, we are not taking medication for that! We believe that God’s Spirit yearns to breath His power, healing, and word to us today.  So we value learning to hear God’s voice and doing life with Him.

PUT YOUR MONEY (OUR YOUR TIME) WHERE YOUR MOUTH IS) ~ We emphasize putting our time and money into serving the poor and those in need. Real faith in the church should be beneficial to people outside the church.  

MANY STRANDS MAKE A STRONG ROPE ~ We love other churches and partner with them often.  We are trying to build the Kingdom of God, not the “kingdom of New Hope”.

LAUGHTER IS THE CLOSEST DISTANCE BETWEEN TWO PEOPLE ~ We have fun.  We laugh a lot.  We’ll kid around with each other.  Though God’s work in the world is important business, we have a lot of fun doing it.
